After pregnancy and delivery, the bottom of the uterus muscles, the so-called Kegel muscles, are weakened. All because of the growing belly and increased load, which are a big challenge for muscles that need to hold a few kilos more than before. The result is relaxation and relaxation of muscles and ligaments supporting the lower urinary and reproductive system. The pubic-tumor muscle that closes the urethra is also weakened. Consequently, the muscle load causes the urine to leak out.

When does the urinary incontinence problem occur?

Usually, urinary incontinence passes during the puerperium. Unfortunately, sometimes it lasts much longer.

The recovery process can be accelerated, exercising Kegel's muscles (read how to do this), taking care of physical activity, remembering daily gymnastics and exercises. It is also advisable weight control. Should be used diet high in fiber, to improve digestion. It is recommended to avoid carrying heavy things, do not overload yourself. Avoid drinking diuretics - tea, coffee, horsetail tea.

It is worth using panty liners or better urological pads, which in the event of a mistake will quickly avoid the effects of urinary incontinence, absorb fluid and an unpleasant smell. It's always good to have spare underwear with you outside the home. Do not limit yourself to taking liquids, because after pregnancy it is very easy to dehydrate. We observe the reactions of our body and go to the toilet more often. For several weeks after giving birth, we practice the "pee in store" - especially before leaving home, we go to the toilet, even if we do not feel such a need.

The most important thing is regularity in Kegel muscle training and not giving up. Sooner or later patients will see their results. They can usually be observed one month after delivery.

In extreme situations, if the urinary incontinence after pregnancy does not pass, the doctor may order different methods of treatment - electrostimulation and even surgery.
